Italian streetwear never ceases to confuse me, and Diesel is a constant case in point. Its spin-off label 55DSL currently commissions short films to launch each season with Beyond Mountains, More Mountains by Canada being AW12. The short film begins when actor/model Viktorija Pacenko loses her boot, which sparks a chaotic road trip across the country. Like a new wave film by Jean-Luc Godard, this short film jump-cuts together a string of vignettes to make this hysteric narrative: a search for a boot that is really a search for the country in the shape of a boot. Post-Berlusconi Italy in this film appears as a confident mess, just like Viktorija’s 55DSL wardrobe.
When the turbine started changing colours we knew it was love. Quentin Jones has made a series of films for HOUSE OF WARIUS lunch on MY THERESA
As the sun begins to appear in Paris, it seems apt to post about the dawn of a new fragrance from Hermes. Their new website is fab, so fragrance floaty fab it may even fit in Lernet and Sandler’s NEW HTML, the interactivity on all levels, the collaborations, push, touch, send, smell. Hermes today is for you.

HEART TO MOUTH
A film from Bart Hess, for NOWNESS
We love it when models speak. Yes, you have my attention. As spring shows faint signs of appearing in paris, the Prada flowers brighten my day too. ”The secret garden is overgrown” we wander further in to this PRADA petal storm. So much so I will buy some roses or perhaps a PRADA petalled something ….
PRADA 2013 SRPING / SUMMER WOMENS
The House of Skype is 10 years young while the House of Lanvin never ages. The merger of the two in this vignette begins with the alarming Skype ringtone and the arrival of Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz via cam who has dialed in. Elbaz could not attend the Steven Meisel campaign shoot in New York City due to inclement weather (Hurricane Sandy) so the master provides feedback from La Ville-Lumière. Elbaz exclaims, “I feel l’m on a cloud!” We want to feel Lanvin in the cloud, too. I sit by my dropbox and wait.

The “new aesthetic” trended hard in 2012, and it is still holds my favour over the mid-90s revival of #seapunk (or the drum’n’bass vibing in the background of this clip). I love the way that the digital makes glitches in the real world, seen here in the interaction of the model and the blue screen. The repetition of the model means that the garment is seen from all perspectives, at once, proving that each of us are several as D&G once said. (Deleuze & Guattari, not the label)

Paris Men’s Fashion week has taken over the city as much as the falling snow. It is pushing my smart phone notifications over the edge. A friend reminded me of this video this morning. It was a breathe of fresh air for me, where the focus is not on fabric or silhouette but a bricolage of narratives. Sometimes I just want the story and not the garment.

Similar colours different theme, Space Odyssey - Indian Style from Indian Vogue. The end shot is super, up, up and away….
Knowing how to conceal something can be just as revealing. This new film for RAF SIMONS 2013 is a beautiful play of sound, shape and texture, moments held and revealed.
